The oil and natural gas production industries are two of the biggest industries that keep the world in motion. Through the production and delivery of these materials, people across the country are able to use household items like:
- HVAC Units
- Gas Stoves
- Dryers
- Water Heaters
These industries are very important to our daily lives, and there are times that we can forget that the production of these products can take a toll on the environment. Luckily, through work with the EPA, the industry and its facility operators have regulations in place that can produce these resources while also maintaining the environment.
Here is a look at some of the most effective regulations that help maintain a clean environment while also continuing the successful production of oil and NGLs.
Oil and Natural Gas Production Facility Regulations
Production facilities are the heart and soul of natural gas and oil delivery. Since 2015, these facilities have been regulated to meet green requirements as set by the EPA.
The goal of these requirements as set by the Clean Air Act is to reduce emissions of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) from oil and natural gas production facilities as well as natural gas transmission and storage facilities.
The emissions that the EPA is trying to reduce are known as HAPs and contain:
- Benzene
- Toluene
- Ethyl Benzene
- Mixed Xylenes
- N-Hexane
These toxins are known to cause birth defects. According to the EPA, natural gas production facilities can meet these provisions by complying with state advance notification requirements.
“If a state does not have an advance notification requirement, companies must inform EPA no later than two days before the well completion using hydraulic fracturing begins,” according to the EPA site. These notifications can be submitted either electronically or in writing.
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act
The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) gives EPA the authority to control hazardous waste from discovery to disposal.
Through this act, the EPA is able to control the generation, transportation, treatment, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste. This act also has a framework in place for the management and storage of non-hazardous materials.
This is where products from Pro-Gas LLC come into play. By providing natural gas and oil facilities with tanks and other forms of NGL storage, we are helping them meet the basic requirements that the EPA has imposed.
Our storage solutions are even mobile. Since they are stored on skids, facilities are free to place this equipment where it is needed and where it is most safe for the environment.
Pro-Gas LLC Helps Both the Environment and Facilities
At Pro-Gas LLC, we care about the environment that our products work to protect. Even though the oil production area is our industry, we understand that there needs to be a balance between production and environmental quality.
If you are a manager of a production facility and are concerned with the way that your business operates, get in touch with us today to find the best equipment to safely get the job done. By reaching out to us, our experienced team can help you understand our environmentally safe solutions to NGL storage, cooling, and more.
