2020 was an intense year for everyone, including those of us who work in the oil and gas industry. Although we can admit that the pandemic had some negative effects on some facilities and drill site opportunities. We are proud of the efforts we’ve been able to contribute to helping our fellow Americans get through the trials and tribulations the nation continues to face as we begin to see the light at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel.
We Ensure Your Energy Needs Are Met
The pandemic brought about several first-time experiences for many of us. One of the main ones being having to self-quarantine if your job wasn’t deemed essential by local and federal governments.
The oil and gas industry allowed for people both in quarantine and still working to continue to comfortably live their lives. From gasoline that fills up vehicles, to gas and electric that keeps that house appliances running, our industry leaders worked hard behind the scenes to ensure that everyone who needed energy, received it, despite our industry’s difficulties.
Oil and Gas Provides Plastic Production Capabilities
During the early stages of the pandemic, there were issues with important products being hoarded away at stores across the country. Toilet paper, non-perishable food items and cleaning products all became coveted goods overnight.
One little known fact about the oil and gas industry is that crude oil and natural gas play a huge role in the creation of plastics. Petrochemical feedstock from these resources are used as an essential framework for creating plastic products.
Therefore, when plastics became scarce, offshore and onshore drill sites worked tirelessly to ensure that sufficient crude materials were able to be supplied and processed to national and local production facilities.
Without the work of oil and gas experts, there very well could have been a longer shortage of essential items.
Our Industry Helps Distribute and Protect Essential Vaccines
It may seem obvious, but it takes fuel to get the airplanes and delivery trucks housing the latest vaccines to their final destinations. Without adequate fuel, millions of citizens would be unable to receive vaccinations and face further uncertainty as Covid-19 continues to run rampant.
Beyond simple transportation needs, the vaccines need to be stored in controlled environments during transportation and storage at medical facilities. The level of temperature required can’t be met in a standard refrigerator.
Petroleum-based products are the root of industrial refrigeration equipment and help ensure that our valuable vaccines remain safe and readily available for the public.
